CCU Campus Visit FAQs

When do you offer visits to campus?

Campus tours are offered weekdays at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. throughout the Fall and Spring semesters (September through April). We also offer tours on some Saturdays throughout the Fall and Spring, as well as an Open House during both the Fall and Spring. During the Summer (May through August), we only offer tours on weekdays at 9:30 a.m. Please note that tours may be unavailable during holidays and extended student breaks.

What if I can only visit on a weekend where there is no Saturday Tour or Open House?

If you can only visit on a day when we do not have a guided visit scheduled, you are always welcome to complete our Self-Guided Walking Tour.

When are the busiest times for campus tours?

March and April are our busiest months of the year. Monday and Friday are also usually the busiest days of the week for us. Please note that many high schools all over the country are often off for the same holidays. As a result, we can occasionally be at capacity for our tours during these times.

How early can I register for a visit?

We typically release our visit dates during the prior semester. So Fall dates are typically released during Summer. Spring dates are released during Fall. And Summer dates are released during Spring.

How late can I register for a visit?

We close online registration for our visits at the end of the prior business day

Is there a cost to visit?

Not at all! All visits to campus are free of charge.

How do I register for a campus visit?

You can sign up for all of our visits at the following link: https://www.coastal.edu/admissions/visits/. When registering, please make sure it is the prospective student’s information that is being entered. If you’re visiting with more than one prospective student, each student should be registered separately.

    Where do I park?

You will be provided instructions with where to park in your initial confirmation email, as well as in the reminder email we send the day before your visit. Upon your arrival, our Teal Trailblazers (tour guides) will be where you are instructed to arrive with yellow parking vests on to assist you.

What if I am running late?

If you are running behind, please give us a call at 843-349-2026 so that we are aware. If the tour has gone out, we will do our best to get you caught up with a group. However, if you arrive more than 20 minutes late, you may have to reschedule or complete our Self-Guided Walking Tour.

How long does the tour last?

Our Weekday Tours last about 2 hours total. We begin with a pre-tour presentation at the event start time that lasts about 20 minutes. Once the presentation ends, you will be taken on a 60-90-minute walking tour of campus. At the conclusion of your tour, you’ll return to our Welcome Center where you’ll be able to meet with our Admissions Counselors.

Please note that we do not provide a pre-tour presentation prior to our Saturday Tours. Instead, a pre-recorded presentation will be sent the day prior. However, our Admissions Counselors will still be available at the conclusion of the tour.

What if I need to cancel or change my visit?

If you need to cancel or change your visit, you can do so by clicking the link in any of the reminder emails that are sent to you. You are also welcome to contact us by phone at 843-349-2026 or via email at admissions@coastal.edu.

Can I sign up my friend as my 'guest' for my tour?

If you’re visiting with more than one prospective student, each student should be registered separately.

Can I remain with my friends during my visit?

Absolutely! If you’re visiting with another prospective student who is registered for the same tour, please notify our staff upon check-in, and we will ensure you remain together.

How do I know that my visit is confirmed?

Once your visit is confirmed, you will automatically receive a confirmation email sent to the email address you provided on the online registration form. Reminder emails will be sent to the same address.

What if the number in my party changes after I sign up for my tour?

Please send an email to admissions@coastal.edu, and we’ll adjust your registration.

Do you offer school excuse notes?

We can only provide school excuse notes for those who are registered for and attend a guided campus tour. On the day of your tour, you can receive your school excuse note from one of our Teal Trailblazers at check-in.

What will I see during my guided walking tour?

Your 60–90-minute tour of our beautiful campus will include visits through our Student Union, Library, Recreation and Convocation Center, Dining Hall, and much more! All of our Teal Trailblazers are current students who have a wealth of knowledge regarding campus life and campus history.

Due to time constraints, we are not able to tour the inside of our athletic facilities. We also are not able to tour through our residence halls throughout most of the year due to them being at capacity.

Do you offer tours of the residence halls?

We are not able to tour through our residence halls throughout most of the year. We typically are able to show a residence hall during our Weekday Tours throughout most of June and July each year, and often at our Discover Coastal Open Houses during the Fall and Spring. However, there is no guarantee that this will be the case year after year.

Will I get a chance to visit the bookstore while on campus?

Our campus bookstore is located in the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center, which you will see while on your tour. However, if you’d like to shop, you are welcome to do so before or after your tour. Any of our Teal Trailblazers or Admissions staff members can direct you over there. We’d also encourage you to visit our Teal Nation retail stores in the area: https://shoptealnation.com/. We have a store located at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, another in Downtown Conway, and another at the University’s own golf course: The Hackler Course.

    Who gives the tour?

All of our tours are given by our trained Teal Trailblazers (student tour guides). They have a wealth of knowledge regarding campus life and campus history. You can meet them here!

Can I have a private tour?

We do not offer private visits.

    Do you offer a waitlist?

We very rarely put a capacity limit on our Weekday Tours and Discover Coastal Open House events. Our large crew of Teal Trailblazers are able to handle the demand for these visits throughout the year. As a result, we do not have waitlists for these particular events. However, we do have capacity limits on all of our Saturday Tours due to their structure. Because of this, we do offer a waitlist for Saturday Tours only. If you join our waitlist for a Saturday Tour, you will be notified automatically via email if you are able to be moved from the waitlist to our registered list.

Do you have separate "admitted student" events?

We host several admitted student events throughout our Spring semester. Because these events are only for admitted students, they will not be found on our main visit page. Students will receive invitations for the events via the email addresses they used to apply to the University.

Our group tours are offered for schools and organizations who would like to bring their prospective students to campus. We offer them most weekdays at 10:30AM from September through April, excluding holiday breaks.

Are family members and guests allowed on the tour?

Absolutely! We just ask that you bring no more than three guests with you during your visit.

Are pets allowed on the tour?

    What if it rains?

We offer our tours rain or shine. So please be sure to check the weather before you visit so that you can be prepared. If there’s any severe weather, it may result in a delay or cancellation of the tour. In these situations, you will be notified via email. Information will also be available on our homepage at www.coastal.edu.
